Some cap ships had some beams\rails mounted. could be useful to have them designed better or even create some new kinds of weaps . eg: missiles

Didn't see your post Timmon since it got cut to the other page.

Not sure really what to say about the design. I'm not sure we can use it from an animation standpoint.
Maybe as a base defense beam or super weapon, but I don't think it'd work out for caps or basic turret purposes.
That's more of a giant projector / batman signal even though the base does look nice.

Maybe break it down so the cannon portion is a single smaller barrel as part of a cluster or salvo?

Ghost, we'll have to see what we can do.

Note that it is a hull cutting beam weapon, such as those deployed by the Bora carrier Fortress against the Apus and Aphrodite.

Here's a new design that's a bit more futuristic looking...

The "turrets" on each side of the sphere contain the range-finding equipment, and rotate to face the target as a normal barrel would. The actual projector is hidden and doesn't need to be modeled or animated, the angle of the beam effect simply changes.

Kinda reminds me of a escape pod I saw somewhere. Looks like it'd work for bases as a anti-cap defense weapon.
I imagine it'd need a whole lot of power to establish the beam.

2001 maybe?

I think I'll get a lighter CMI cutting beam drawn next, then move on to the more conventional pulse and projectile weapons.
None of these really have a defined scale, so they can be whatever size you need them to be.

Actually I think it might be the head from Womb Wars (star wars parody).

Here's not a bad turret that's similar in essence to Tach's main unit.

I'd rather have the barrels be a bit more emphasized though, looks a bit stubby.

Here's another interesting design with side mounted barrel arms.

For the projectile and energy pulse weapons, certainly.

In Tach, all weapons who's projectiles had a limited range and travel time had visible barrels. The insta-hit cap hullers like the Armageddon Laser were just nubs surrounded by glowing panels that lit up when the weapon fired. There were also surprisingly small.

The only guns I remember being on bases were invincible double-barreled pulse turrets. Cap ship beams were just small glowing domes.

Bora pulse weapon.
Fires all Bora lasers (Arc, Boron, Heavy, and Pulsar)

Has a very high rate of fire, but overheats quickly, hence the radiators.
